Georgia Tech senior associate athletic director Ryan Bamford has accepted the athletic director position at Massachusetts, according to a report in the Daily Hampshire Gazette.

Bamford has been at Tech since 2011 first as an associate athletic director hired by then-AD Dan Radakovich and promoted to senior associate AD by Mike Bobinski. He has overseen operations for football, men’s basketball and baseball. Among his responsibilities was football scheduling.

Bamford has New England roots. He grew up in New Hampshire – his father Steve was athletic director at Plymouth State – and attended graduate school at Springfield College. He came to Tech after serving eight years in the Yale athletic department. His parents now reside on Cape Cod in Massachusetts.

An announcement from Massachusetts is expected Monday.
