Here are three interesting points Lamb made ahead of Saturday's game:

On the similarities between the offenses of The Citadel, which the Bears lost to last week 24-23, and Georgia Tech:

“I said last week that obviously we get the advantage of working [against this offense] all preseason camp. I thought our defense did a really good job of defending it once we got used to the speed of the game. The difference is Georgia Tech gets the ball out to the perimeter a little bit more and the speed is going to be a little bit faster.

“[Georgia Tech] has a very dynamic quarterback who can make plays, and he’s a guy that’s certainly the key to their offense. We’ve got to find a way to get the ball out of his hands or find a way to get a hand on him because he’s very quick. It’ll be a great challenge for us, but at least we’ve seen some form of it the last few weeks.”

The Bulldogs rushed for 262 yards on 53 carries. The Citadel had a long run of 70 yards.

On what he learned from Boston College's offense:

“From the offensive standpoint, Boston College ran a lot of multiple tight end sets. We’re a multiple tight end team as well, so we got a lot of ideas from Boston College. We’ve got all the [film] from games last year after swapping with Georgia Tech – there’s a lot of things out there – but the bottom line is we’ve got to block better up front. We’ve got to get [quarterback] John [Russ] in rhythm…he can’t hold the ball and we’ve probably got to move him around a little bit. And, we’ve got to be multiple. You’re not just going to sit there and run it against their two inside tackles – they’re 295 pounds. So, we’ve got to be multiple and give them different sets, which will be a challenge.”

Mercer rushed for 220 yards and passed for 172 against The Citadel.

On Georgia Tech's passing attack:

“[Passing] is what makes [Justin Thomas] so dangerous – he can throw the ball down the field. What was it, fourth-and-19 the other day against Boston College? Bam…he threw it right in there. So, he’s a really good thrower. Any time you face a guy who is a really good thrower and can run the triple [option] with the speed he has, it makes it a double-whammy.

“Certainly we know [Georgia Tech] will take its shots and our secondary will have to have their eyes in the right spot and be focused on what they’re doing.”

The Citadel passed for 79 yards.
