How important was preparing for his senior season to Georgia Tech A-back Broderick Snoddy?
Important enough that he and his bride didn’t go on a honeymoon after getting married this summer.

After that?
“I just went right back to summer workouts,” he said.
Snoddy, who maintained that his marriage is "going well," is returning from a broken fibula and tibia in his left leg, an injury suffered in the Clemson game last November. Last Friday, as he checked into the team hotel, he spoke confidently and eagerly about starting preseason camp.
“I’m not going to be thinking about taking contact,” he said. “I’m just going to go out there and perform.”
Snoddy acknowledged that, as he rehabilitated his injury, he had been fearful of making a hard plant and cut on his left foot, but eventually passed the test.
“I knew it was going to come to a point in time where I had no choice but to step up,” he said.
In summer workouts, Snoddy continued to test his leg in drills with heavy bags and cutting back and forth. Friday, he pronounced himself “100 percent.” The speed is returning. Snoddy ran two meets for the track team in the spring, running the 100-meter dash in 10.73 seconds at the ACC championships in May. Last year, his fastest was a wind-aided 10.48; he also ran a 10.60 into a headwind.

Snoddy’s healthy return is pivotal because of the productivity he demonstrated prior to the injury and also because he is the sole A-back with significant game experience. In Snoddy’s final five games of last season – alert: small sample size ahead – he had 20 carries for 222 yards, an 11.1 yards-per-carry average. For the season, he had 28 carries for 283 yards
A-back coach Lamar Owens will need to find at least a couple more A-backs from his group of Isiah Willis, Clinton Lynch, Qua Searcy and incoming freshmen Nate Cottrell, Omahri Jarrett and TaQuon Marshall. Last year, seven A-backs received carries, not counting Synjyn Days, who started the season playing both before moving full-time to B-back.
Owens will have a month to find them before the season opener Sept. 3.
As for Snoddy, I told him he had a very understanding wife. He readily agreed.
