As Georgia Tech men's basketball coach Josh Pastner rolls through scouting reports on each scholarship player on this team, one thing continues to pop up: points.
The team has to be smart in its shot selection because there isn't a go-to scorer.
The second thing is the players need to give total effort in everything from rebounding, to avoiding turnovers, to taking good shots.
The margin of error for earning wins will be very small.
Over the next few days, I’ll post player-by-player scouting reports on the team as it prepares for its exhibition opener against Shorter on Nov. 5 at McCamish Pavilion.
The Yellow Jackets went 21-15 overall, 8-10 in the ACC under previous coach Brian Gregory.

Career averages
Points: 2.8.
Shooting percentage: 61.1
3-point percentage: N/A.

Miscellaneous: Averaged 15.5 minutes per game in conference play last season… Blocked 27 shots in 18 games. … Had 47 blocks last season. … Added 17 assists with 17 turnovers. ... Maybe the most improved player on the roster last season. ... Defends post fairly well. ... Good shot blocker. ... Can affect games without scoring. ... Can make shots outside the paint. ... Needs to develop strength and not a good foul shooter.
Coach Josh Pastner's take: He's really come a long way. He's just got to be more aggressive. He can really pass. He's skilled. Good timing on his shot-blocking. He's good with both hands passing the ball, but he's got to be more aggressive. We want him to score. We want him to be more communicative. We want him to talk.
