Georgia Tech's strong finish was reflected in various rankings and bowl projections, which includes two forecasts that the Yellow Jackets will go bowling in Jacksonville, Fla., at the TaxSlayer (formerly Gator) Bowl. College Football News gave the Jackets a 13-spot jump, from No. 41 to 28.

The variance is considerable. Tech is No. 51 by the ESPN power index. I think part of it I would attribute to the College Football News (which is determined by people and not computer formulas) ranking is that it is probably more reflective of wins/losses and how teams stand right now, whereas the other rankings take the entire season's data into consideration equally. Also, Tech's defensive numbers probably weigh down the computer rankings more than a human one. It's interesting that Tech's ranking in the ESPN index is actually lower than its preseason rank, but the Jackets finished 2.3 wins better than the projection.

Banks County 0 mile sign is displayed on Old Federal Road, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in Carnesville. The boundary between Banks and Franklin mysteriously moved to the east, allowing the Banks sheriff to claim he lives in the county and keep his job as the top lawman. (Hyosub Shin / AJC)
