Predicting Atlanta United’s starting 11 for Sunday’s game at D.C. United is a tough task because the MLS champs are playing this between Champions League games: A 4-0 win against Herediano on Thursday in Kennesaw and a quarterfinal game at Monterrey in Mexico on Wednesday.

Because this is the first league game in a 34-game season, I don’t think Atlanta United is going to field what would be considered its strongest lineup. It needs to focus on getting a good result in Mexico.

Here’s my predicted 11:

Goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

Right centerback Miles Robinson

Centerback Florentin Pogba, which would be his MLS debut.

Left centerback Mikey Ambrose

Right wingback Gordon Wild, which would be his MLS debut.

Left wingback Jon Gallagher, which would be his MLS debut.

Holding midfielder Jeff Larentowicz

Midfielder Andrew Carleton

Left midfielder Hector Villalba

Right midfielder Brandon Vazquez

Striker Romario Williams
