FLOWERY BRANCH – Georgia and Georgia Tech were represented on the list players invited to the scouting combine which was released by the NFL on Friday.
Georgia has five players and Georgia Tech has two players invited to the combine which will be held Feb. 17 through 23 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Running back Todd Gurley, wide receiver Chris Conley, linebacker Amarlo Herrera, linebacker Ramik Wilson and defensive back Damian Swann were the Bulldogs invited.
Wide receivers DeAndre Smelter and Darren Waller were the Yellow Jackets invited.
After the next few days, we'll comb through the list to get all of the local players from other schools to go along with South Carolina running back Mike Davis (Stephenson High) and tight end Rory "Busta" Anderson (McEachern High).
Auburn's Nick Marshall of Wilcox County High, who played defensive back at the Senior Bowl, is listed as a quarterback. Auburn defensive tackle Gabe Wright of Columbus Carver High was invited. The Tigers have seven invitees overall.
Alabama linebacker Xzavier Dickson of Griffin High, tackle Austin Shepherd of Buford High and quarterback Blake Sims of Gainesville High were all invited.
Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley of Adairsville High, defensive end Corey Crawford of Columbus Carver, defensive tackle Grady Jarrett of Rockdale County High and cornerback Garry Peters of Heritage High in Conyers are slated to attend.
Gurley has been rehabbing down in Pensacola and will not work out, but is expected go through the medial procedures and be available for team interviews.
