FLOWERY BRANCH -- With a ankle injury backup running back Terron Ward, the Falcons sign running back Cyrus Gray on Wednesday.

Gray, who played at Texas A&M, was originally drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the sixth round (182nd overall) of the 2012 NFL

He has 24 carries for 99 yards and one touchdown. Gray also has nine receptions for 64 yards.

Ward has missed the last two practices and is not expected to play in the exhibition opener against Washington at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Georgia Dome.
