A "pop-up" TSA PreCheck enrollment center coming to Atlanta has started taking appointments online.

The temporary enrollment center will be open Aug. 16-20 at the Courtyard Atlanta Airport South hotel for those who want to sign up for the Transportation Security Administration's PreCheck "trusted traveler" program.

The temporary enrollment center in Atlanta will be open Tues. Aug. 16 and Wed. Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. From Thurs. Aug. 18 through Sat. Aug. 20, it will open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

PreCheck membership costs $85 to enroll for five years and allows travelers to go through expedited security screening with shorter lines.

Waits for appointments at permanent PreCheck enrollment centers in Atlanta and elsewhere have been long. The pop-up enrollment centers opening across the country this summer are aimed at alleviating that issue.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
