Hartsfield-Jackson International is floating the idea of a food hall near the airport as it seeks developers for parcels of land it owns.

The world's busiest airport has issued requests for proposals for four sites to be leased near the airport, after holding a real estate industry day for developers earlier this year.

For a site on Loop Road near the headquarters of Delta Air Lines and Porsche Cars North America, the airport's request for proposals document notes its "potential interest in a food hall/open market concept."

"In Atlanta open market/food hall concepts have seen exceptional success," including Ponce City Market and Krog Street Market, the airport says in the document. "As younger consumers continue to demand unique, high-quality fast casual options, food halls are projected to remain on their current growth trajectory," it adds.

The site on Loop Road near Union Avenue includes 6.5 acres owned by the airport, near areas that attract visitors including the Delta Flight Museum and the Porsche Experience Center test track.

The city of Atlanta, which owns the airport, is holding a pre-proposal conference for interested companies, which has been rescheduled to Tuesday Jan. 14, 2020, with proposals from companies now due March 18.
