Delta Air Lines is shifting its final flight of the Boeing 747.
The Atlanta-based airline now plans to operate the final commercial flight of the 747 jumbo jet on Tuesday Dec. 19, from Seoul to Detroit, two days later than previously planned.
The airline said the 747 "is being pressed into service" for an additional round-trip. The final U.S. departure of a Delta commercial flight on the 747 will now be on Sunday Dec. 17 for the outbound flight from Detroit to Seoul. Delta is the only U.S. passenger airline still flying the 747.
The final 747 commercial flight on Delta will be on the same day as when Delta's 747 employee farewell tour stops in Atlanta with one of the airline's remaining 747s.
Delta said the farewell tour will continue as planned. The employee farewell tour starts in Detroit and stops at Paine Field in Everett, Wash. where 747s were produced, followed by stops in Seattle, Atlanta and Minneapolis. A Delta 747 will also stop in Los Angeles for an employee tour.
