Delta Air Lines announced plans Friday to launch flights between Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Ontario, Calif., adding another way to get from Atlanta to Southern California.

Atlanta-based Delta plans to operate one daily flight on the route starting April 22, 2019 and a second daily flight starting June 9. The route will be flown with 180-seat Boeing 737-900ERs.

Delta operates a hub at Los Angeles International Airport, which is nearly 60 miles away from the smaller Ontario airport in the Inland Empire region. And Delta also operates flights from Atlanta to John Wayne Airport in Orange County south of Los Angeles.

From Ontario, Delta already operates flights to its Salt Lake City hub.

But the new service will add another connection between the L.A. Basin and Atlanta.

Healthcare at College Park, a nursing home in Fulton County, GA, stands shuttered with its door chained on July 26, 2025, having closed in recent months. Researchers at Brown University developed a list of U.S. nursing homes they predicted were at risk of closing based on 2023 data, and would be at elevated risk of closing due to the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act's cuts to Medicaid. Healthcare at College Park was on their list. It survived past its last federal inspection in August of 2024 but has now closed down. The bill's biggest provisions will roll out over years starting Jan. 1. (Ariel Hart/AJC)
