Delta Air Lines is holding an online mileage auction for a VIP bourbon distillery tour that includes a role in developing a bourbon for Sky Clubs.
Atlanta-based Delta is putting three tour packages up for auction on its SkyMiles Experiences website, with bids starting at 40,000 frequent flier miles.
Each package includes a two-night stay for two at the Louisville Marriott Downtown March 27-29, dinner at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse and tours of the Brown-Forman Cooperage, Old Forester Distillery and Woodford Reserve Distillery.
The visit to Woodford Reserve includes a lunch, tour and tasting, and “the opportunity to curate” an exclusive Woodford Reserve bourbon for Sky Clubs, with Delta and the help of a master distiller.
The SkyMiles auctions are part of an effort by the airline to come up with more ways for frequent fliers to use their miles.
One of the biggest frustrations for frequent fliers is the struggle to use miles for free flights. Airlines have increasingly tried to come up with other ways for people to burn their miles and keep members in the frequent flier program.
Delta puts a variety of items up for auction on the SkyMiles Experiences website, such as celebrity chef dinners and Delta’s final flights of the Boeing 747 in 2017.
