Fog and low cloud cover could take some time to clear Wednesday, but sunshine will eventually return to North Georgia.
A partly cloudy sky is in the forecast for the afternoon, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan. With some sun in the mix, Monahan said temperatures will climb from the 60s to the low 80s for another warm fall day.
“Temperatures are going to be a good 5, 6, 7 degrees above average all the way through the week,” he said. “If you like warm temperatures in October, you like dry weather, the next few days are going to be really good for you.”
There is no rain in the forecast Wednesday. According to Channel 2, the fog will stick around through midmorning before the sunshine starts to peek through. Until it clears, there could be areas of low visibility on the roads, Monahan said.
“We are OK in town, but as you head up to the northwest suburbs, those outlying areas as you get away from I-285, that fog gets a little thick,” he said.
Atlanta will top out at 81 degrees Wednesday, he said. Another dry day Thursday comes with a projected high of 83, and Monahan said temperatures will hold there Friday despite a 10% chance of a shower. Those in west Georgia have the best chance of getting wet Friday, he said.
“For the most part we should stay pretty dry,” he said. “Saturday there will be showers leading us into a nice finish to the weekend, a cool one too.”
Rain is 40% likely Saturday and will be more widespread early in the day, he said. The rain clears out by Sunday morning, when temperatures will fall back into the 50s, according to the latest forecast.

Inside the Perimeter, fog has not caused too much trouble for the start of the Wednesday morning drive. There are no major delays on any metro Atlanta interstates at 6:30 a.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
An earlier crash on the Downtown Connector temporarily blocked the southbound lanes at Williams Street but has since cleared. There are still some lingering stop-and-go delays, the Traffic Center reported.
“If you are leaving the house in the next 30 minutes or so, you have a really nice ride,” traffic reporter Heather Catlin said. Volume is expected to build throughout the morning.
