Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan is calling for a few more clouds Thursday and increased humidity ahead of isolated showers Friday. Saturday will also see some rain, he said.

North Georgia has been treated to several days of sunshine and dry air, but the dial on humidity is getting turned up Thursday.

Humidity, cloud cover and rain chances will all increase Thursday, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan. Any showers should be spotty, he said, and they will hold off until after sunset.

“Today is still really good for us,” Monahan said of the forecast. “Still a lot of sunshine for us, just a little bit more humid. It still should feel pretty good, though, for your Thursday.”

This time of year, North Georgia gets about 13.5 hours of daylight, and 11 of those will be sunny Thursday, according to Monahan. With more clouds and a better chance of rain Friday, he is expecting less sunshine to end the week.

“We’re going to add a little rain to the forecast — just a little, though,” he said. “There’s going to be plenty of dry spots and dry hours across North Georgia. Outdoor plans are still OK for Friday and Saturday, it’s just going to be a little more humid.”

Monahan said Thursday will be noticeably more humid as temperatures return to the 80s this afternoon. Atlanta’s projected high is 82 degrees.

Clouds will roll in from the east Thursday night, increasing the chance for a quick shower or two, Monahan said. He expects sprinkles and showers to fire up around sunset and continue into early Friday morning.

There could be some rain around for the Friday morning drive, according to Monahan, and showers are 30% likely Friday afternoon. The rain and clouds will hold temperatures back, with a high of 76 degrees predicted for Atlanta.

“A little change for the end of the week,” Monahan said. “Lots of gaps between the clouds, lots of gaps between the showers and we’ll have lots of sunshine in several spots, too, tomorrow afternoon.”

He expects temperatures to return to the 80s this weekend, despite a 30% chance of a shower each day. It will be warm and humid on Saturday and Sunday with projected highs of 86 degrees, according to the latest forecast.

Atlanta's projected high is 82 degrees Thursday, and rain chances will increase after sunset.
