Cloud cover will build in and a warmer day is ahead on Sunday.

It’s going to be a chilly and mostly cloudy morning. Temperatures will be in the high 30s, but we’ll see a quick warmup as the morning goes on and the sun peeks through.

“Not quite as cold as we had (Saturday) morning, but we will have a few more clouds around to help things out,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said.

Clouds will begin thinning out by about 10 a.m., but it will still be a mostly cloudy afternoon. Temperatures will reach a high of 62 degrees, which is above our 59 degrees average for this time of year. There will be a breeze, but nothing above 10 mph.

Temperatures will continue increasing due to warm air moving in from the Pacific, Deon said. We’re back in the 70s by Monday and overnight lows will be well above average. By the latter half of the week, metro Atlanta is expected to reach near record-high temperatures, the National Weather Service said.

By Tuesday, scattered showers return and are projected to stick around until the end of the week. Thursday is looking to be our warmest day with a high of 81 degrees.

But winter is not quite past us. By Sunday, there will still be 29 days until spring.
