Temperatures will continue dropping ahead of an arctic cold front that could bring in winter weather.

Fewer clouds and more sunshine are expected Sunday, but that doesn’t mean it will feel any warmer. Temperatures will be below average with a low of 27 degrees overnight.

“Starting off early on Sunday, we’ll be off to a nice, bright start. Just don’t count on much of a warm-up,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said. “We’re keeping it cool — cooler than normal.”

The high in Atlanta will be 46 degrees, with parts of North Georgia not going much lower than that. A slight breeze of about 10 mph throughout the afternoon may make it appear colder than it actually is.

Temperatures will begin increasing by Monday when a low of 37 degrees is expected. But by Thursday evening and into Friday morning, an arctic front will bring frigid temperatures.

“We’re also going to be watching out for the potential of some wintry weather,” Deon said. “Possibly starting off as a rain (and) snow mix as moisture moves in, possibly meeting up with that arctic air mass.”

There is a 70% chance of rain on Thursday, but the first signs of rain could come as early as Tuesday. We’ll see a low of 18 degrees Thursday and a low of 15 degrees Friday.
