Labor Day weekend will be a rain-soaked holiday interlude with heavy downpours expected across metro Atlanta.

A stationary front of saturation that has draped the region will cause Saturday to begin with some morning precipitation, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

“It’s been kind of meandering back and forth here for the last couple of days, and it’ll keep a few scattered showers around.”

Embedded thunderstorms and will pour right across metro Atlanta early in the day and make occasional appearances throughout the afternoon, according to Nitz. There’s a 60% chance of showers for the day.

“It’s not going to be a rain out, but we will have off and on showers through the day,” he said.

The morning begins with early temperatures of 71 degrees in Atlanta. Heavy cloud cover and rain will keep the afternoon high relatively low at 83.

“Cloudy, humid, showers and thunderstorms off and on this weekend.,” Nitz said. “It holds the high temperatures down into the low 80s.”
