North Georgia will stay nice and dry over the next few days as temperatures rise on the heels of a chilly weekend, according to Channel 2 Action News.
After Saturday’s temperatures in the 40s and 50s, highs in the 70s and 80s in this week’s forecast are a welcome sight. Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said there should be no problems to accompany the warm weather until the later part of the week.
“Pretty much can leave the umbrella at home,” Monahan said. “Just the slightest chance of a shower all the way through Wednesday. Wednesday night into Thursday, that’s when our next chance for some more widespread rain is going to move on in.”
Atlanta is headed for a high of 75 degrees Monday after a mild start in the 50s, according to Channel 2. While there will be some clouds in the sky, Monahan said the city will still get to enjoy plenty of sunshine. About seven hours of the typical 12.5 daylight hours will be sunny, he said.
By lunchtime, Monahan said temperatures will be in the upper 60s as North Georgia stays mainly dry. There remains a 20% chance of rain, but he said any showers that develop will be spotty.
“It’s going to get even warmer as we go to Tuesday and Wednesday,” he said. “Looking at temperatures in the low 80s.”
With warm and dry conditions, allergy sufferers can expect to see symptoms flare. Pollen levels remain in the high range with a count Sunday of 549 particles per cubic meter of air. Atlanta Allergy and Asthma, the organization that tracks the daily pollen count, is expected to release Monday’s count by 9 a.m.
Temperatures are expected to drop back into the 70s Thursday with a 60% chance of a shower. Monahan said the morning hours should see the bulk of the rain activity, and drier weather returns Friday.
