With highs in the 100s just around the corner, Atlanta’s projected high of 91 degrees Monday doesn’t seem quite so bad.
It will be a “refreshing” 91 degrees, relatively speaking, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan. Humidity is low Monday, and Monahan said the number on the thermometer will match the way it feels outside.
Monday could also be a great day to spend by the pool, as there are no storms to worry about, he said.
“Last week, the heat would build really high and then we get those big storms in the afternoon and evening,” Monahan said. “None of that happening for us this week. It’s going to be a nice, quiet week for us, at least storm-wise.”
No rain in the forecast will also mean building heat. By Tuesday, Monahan expects Atlanta will return to the upper 90s with a projected high of 97. Wednesday could break into the 100s for the first time in a few years, which would also set a new record high for June 22.
Another 100-degree day is in the forecast Thursday, according to Monahan. It will mark the return of “dangerous heat” as humidity builds, he said.
All things considered, Monday should be a nice day with a sunny sky and comfortable, if hot, conditions. Monahan said there should be no rain anywhere across the Southeast.
“It should be pretty quiet, pretty dry for us today,” he said. “Tonight will be a mild night in the low 70s, that’s where we start in the morning tomorrow, and then we take a big jump in the temperatures.”
