The rain and storms that swept North Georgia overnight are moving out, leaving the region cloudy but dry Friday morning.

Some of the clouds are low, contributing to poor visibility in some spots for the Friday morning drive, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon. Fog is densest in the mountains and the northwest corner of the state, but metro Atlanta is faring just fine, she said.

“It’s going to look a lot better, especially as we head into the afternoon,” Deon said. “And the weekend looks fantastic.”

As a cold front moves away Friday, Deon said drier air will settle in and eventually clear out any remaining moisture. Friday should see “plenty of sunshine for the afternoon and early evening hours,” she said.

“We’re looking very nice as we wrap up the work week,” she said. “We’ll have a few high clouds mixing in, making for a great sunset. And then later tonight we’ll have a mostly clear sky.”

Atlanta’s projected high of 73 degrees is right on track for this time of year, she said. Friday is starting off warm with temperatures in the low 60s.

Deon said she is tracking a dip in temperatures for the weekend. While the afternoons will remain mild in the 70s, the mornings will turn cooler with lows in the 50s, according to Channel 2. Sun in the forecast both Saturday and Sunday will make for ideal conditions to enjoy fall activities outdoors.

“Either day you pick you are going to be in great shape, getting out and about,” Deon said.

On Saturday, Deon expects great weather for the Braves next home game in the League Championship Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. At first pitch at 5 p.m., Deon said temperatures will be in the low to mid-70s and will fall back into the 60s by middle innings.

“A lot of sunshine,” she said. “Great looking forecast for the Braves coming back home.”

Temperatures in the mid-70s and lots of sunshine will make for ideal conditions for enjoying outdoor activities this weekend, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon.

The only trouble spot on the roads Friday morning is in DeKalb County, where a garbage truck is blocking lanes just outside I-285, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

The truck is tipped on its side on Lawrenceville Highway near the freeway exit, the Traffic Center reported.

It is not impacting the ride on I-285.

“Trip times are looking pretty good on I-285,” traffic reporter Heather Catlin said at 6:30 a.m. “Speed limit conditions both on the east and west side.”
