The city of Atlanta is calling on financial technology companies to join in a trade mission to London.
Invest Atlanta, the city’s economic development arm, plans to go to the United Kingdom in February. The trip will focus on the FinovateEurope 2016 conference, Feb. 8-11.
The mission is seeking to grow closer ties to the U.K. financial industry. Metro Atlanta is financial technology hub and the backbone of the U.S. payments industry, and London is among the world’s biggest financial cities.
“Anchored by large companies such as FirstData, NCR and Worldpay, the transaction processing industry in Georgia contributes $30 billion to the state’s revenue annually and 70 percent of all payments nationwide are processed here,” Craig Richard, president and CEO of Invest Atlanta, said in a statement. “This trade mission is a great opportunity for Atlanta FinTech companies to identify new prospects and network. Having a strong delegation will reinforce our City’s status as a global FinTech hub and showcase how our spirit of collaboration makes our FinTech sector powerful.”
Companies picked to go will get "business matchmaking assistance" and other aid and advice on how to pitch British business. Interested companies can apply at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ATLFinovate2016 and applications are due Nov. 30.
