Despite possibly having the second-coming of Andrew Luck, Cam Newton or Johnny Manziel on its roster in true freshman Blake Barnett, Alabama still doesn't know who will be the starting quarterback.
The Crimson Tide held a team scrimmage Saturday, and none of the five quarterbacks on the roster was able to do anything to separate themselves from the pack.
Now, who will start for the Tide has become so questionable that an outsider may step in to help decide: Nick Saban’s wife, Terry.
From Al.com's Matt Zenitz's report:
Terry Saban — the "real head coach," Saban joked — will offer her take on the quarterbacks Saturday night.
"I know it's coming," a smiling Saban said.
The Tide have three more weeks to try and pick a quarterback, though Saban didn’t rule out starting the season with a platoon at the position. Obviously, that doesn’t sound ideal.
Alabama found itself in a similar position in 2011 when A.J. McCarron and Phillip Sims traded turns at quarterback in the season opener against Kent State. McCarron ended up winning the starting job, and Alabama ended up winning the national title.
Tide fans won’t mind starting the season without a quarterback being named if that kind of history can repeat itself.
The question, however, remains: are any of these quarterbacks any good?
