After attending UGA's Dawg Night prospect camp on Saturday night, South Carolina commit Bryan Edwards couldn't say he was 100 percent committed to the Gamecocks.

“As of right now, I am committed to South Carolina,” Edwards told the AJC. “I can’t give a percentage. All I know is I’m committed.”

Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier must have been worried about his prized prospect's visit to an SEC rival. While in Athens, Edwards received a Twitter message from the Head Ball Coach.

“Coach Spurrier (direct messaged) me on Twitter and checked up on me to see how the Georgia visit was going,” he said. “He was also making sure that I was still 100 percent to South Carolina.”

While at Dawg Night, Edwards got a chance to talk to UGA wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon. The 6-foot-3, 208-pounder was complimentary on how UGA sells its program to recruits.

“Hanging out with coach (McClendon) was probably my favorite part of the visit,” he said. “He was just telling me about the things they have planned for the future and how they have things set up for how they are going to be really good real soon.”

Edwards and his family also got the chance to talk with UGA offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. The Bulldogs are hoping that the 4-star recruit makes a return trip soon.

“He talked to my parents and told them it was great having me there and hopefully they can get me back there for another day when it’s not so hectic because they had like 700 kids there, so it was a crazy day,” Edwards said.

The message to Edwards from both UGA assistant coaches was clear. If you flip to the Bulldogs, you will have a chance to make an impact early because they only have one wide receiver commit in this year’s class in Houston County’s Darion Anderson.

“They told me that they are short on wide receivers right now and they said I can come in and play early.”

So has he given much thought in becoming a former Gamecocks commit?

“I don’t know. That’s something I haven’t thought about, yet. I have to sit down and think about that. I haven’t taken the time to think about flipping. I’m just enjoying the recruitment process. I’m taking my time with it.”
