After scoring his first collegiate touchdown, LSU running back Leonard Fournette struck the Heisman pose.
On Thursday at SEC Media Days, Fournette placed himself behind a running back that has a good chance to win the award this year: UGA's Nick Chubb.
Despite the fact that Chubb may be his biggest competition to win the Heisman, Fournette had nothing but glowing words to say about the Bulldogs tailback.
“I think he is hands-down the best running back in the SEC,” Fournette said. “I’m competing against him every day.”
Both running backs had terrific freshman seasons. Chubb, who didn’t get serious playing time until halfway through the year, combined for 1,760 yards and 16 touchdowns. Fournette, on the other hand, had 1,161 total yards and 10 touchdowns on 43 fewer touches than Chubb.
Fournette says he isn’t concerned about winning the Heisman. The only thing that matters to him is “holding that national championship trophy.”
