HOOVER, Ala. — Hello again from the frigid Wyndsor II grand ballroom at The Wynfrey. Seth Emerson, Mark Bradley and I are here for Day 2 of SEC Football Media Days.
Should be an interesting morning. SEC coordinator of officials Steve Shaw is up right now talking about the new rules for 2015, including a designated medical observer for every game. But things ought to crank up after that.
The Ol’ Ball Coach is due to take the podium in the main room at 10 a.m. ET. I’d imagine Steve Spurrier will get some questions about the Confederate flag being removed from state grounds last week. To his credit, he was bringing up the need to do that way back when he first got to Columbia in 2007. He might address a thing or two about his football team, as well. And maybe that Sept. 19th date with the Bulldogs in Athens.
After that, we’ll hear from Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M. I have to say, I’ll need to make use of that time as I couldn’t tell you much about the Aggies at this point.
There’s a mysterious “SEC Network Announcement” at 1:45 p.m., Mississippi State and coach Dan Mullen are up at 2 p.m. and the day will be capped off around 4 p.m. with Tennessee players and coach Butch Jones. Obviously, Georgia fans will have some interest in hearing about the team that most are tabbing as the most likely to contend with the Bulldogs for the East title.
So that’s what we’ve got to look forward to today. We’ll be filing news bursts just as quickly as soon as we get it from each session.
