The state’s top receiver is back on the free-agent market.
Kyle Davis of Archer High School de-committed from South Carolina on late Monday night.
Davis, who passes all of the eyeball tests for a receiver at 6-foot-3 and 210-pounds, had originally committed to South Carolina last summer.
Davis grew up as a fan of UGA, but the Bulldogs lost early momentum because they waited much longer than other schools to offer Davis. UGA finally offered Davis last October, and the Bulldogs have slowly but surely developed a relationship.
Last Thursday, new UGA offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer (along with defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt) attended Archer spring practice to observe Davis and his teammate, offensive lineman EJ Price, who is already committed to UGA.
Also, a few weeks ago, Davis went to a camp to catch passes from Jacob Eason, the nation's No. 1-rated QB from Lake Stevens, Wash., who is committed to UGA.
