UGA’s basketball team went back to Michigan for the second year in a row for some success on the recruiting trail.
Michael Edwards, a 3-star center from Westland, Mich., committed to UGA over Nebraska and Kansas State on Monday night via Twitter.
The 6-foot-10, 225-pounder is rated as the No. 6 overall prospect out of Michigan. Edwards took an official visit to UGA in late March, and he toured Nebraska last week.
Last year, UGA edged out Michigan State for power forward Yante Maten of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Edwards averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds this past season as a high school senior.
With the addition of Edwards, UGA now has four recruits for its 2016 class. The other three (who all signed in the early period) are 6-4 guard William "Turtle" Jackson of Athens Christian, 6-8 center Derek Ogbeide of Pebblebrook, and 6-6 forward E'torrion Wilridge of Beaumont, Texas.
