The last time we saw Nick Chubb, he was running on the backs of Louisville defenders on his way to rushing for a SEC bowl record 269 yards in the Belk Bowl.
The last time we saw Derrick Henry, he was slicing and dicing his way through the Ohio State defense to finish with 95 yards rushing and 54 yards receiving in the national title game.
And the last time we saw Leonard Fournette, he was taking up residence in the end zone at the Music City Bowl after scoring three TDs in the loss to Notre Dame.
Obviously, the SEC's cup runneth over when it comes to running backs in 2015, which is good, considering the level of QB play that's expected this fall.
And it merely starts with Chubb, Henry and Fournette.
There’s also Tennessee’s Jalen Hurd, the Arkansas duo of Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins, Vanderbilt’s Ralph Webb and Missouri’s Russell Hansbrough, among others.
So, who’s the best?
1. Nick Chubb, UGA — It's tough to argue with Chubb, who averaged 165.4 yards rushing in his eight starts, running for at least 100 yards in all of them. Final stats: 1,547 yards, 14 TDs; 18 catches, 213 yards, 2 TDs
2. Derrick Henry, Alabama — Henry has the best all-around skills of the trio, which he demonstrates when he's involved in Alabama's passing game. Final stats: 990 yards rushing, 11 TDs; 5 catches, 133 yards, 2 TDs
3. Leonard Fournette, LSU — While he didn't win the Heisman Trophy as a freshman last year, as he predicted, Fournette gained steam throughout the year. 1,034 yards, 10 TDs; 7 catches, 127 yards
