UGA-Kentucky primer: Dogs looking to make history

A quick primer for tonight’s game between No. 1 Kentucky and No. 33 Georgia (based on RPI).

• Kentucky is 29-0, 16-0 in the SEC. the 29-game winning streak is the second-longest in school history but longest over the course of one season.
• The Wildcats have already secured the SEC regular-season championship. It's their 46th.
• Georgia is 19-9, 10-6 SEC. The Bulldogs have recorded double-digit conference wins for only second time in history (2002-03). Georgia is in a three-way tie for fourth in the SEC and seeking a "double-bye" in the SEC tournament as one of the top four at the end of the season.
• This is UGA's 16th game against the No. 1-ranked team. 0-15, including 11-point loss to Kentucky in Lexington earlier this season.
• It is Senior Night for for forwards Nemanja Djurisc and Marcus Thornton and guard Taylor Echols.
• Thornton tonight will tie the Georgia career record for games played (129) (G.G. Smith and Michael Chadwick).
• Djurisic became the 44th Georgia player to reach 1,000 points in his career when he went over that mark against Tennessee on Feb. 7. He now has 1,070.
• Georgia students stood in the rain at noon to get wrist bands for general admission to tonight's game. The allotment of 2,000 was gone within two hours.
• Tickets were being sold to Kentucky fans outside Stegeman Coliseum for $250. Police were investigating the sale of counterfeits.
• A sellout crowd of 10,523 is expected.
