For a decade, the NFL Network’s Rich Eisen has lined up at NFL combine in his suit and tie to run the 40-yard dash.
This year fans are encouraged to do the same – run the 40 yards in your work clothes – to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell joined in on the action by also running a 40 – in his work clothes – at NFL offices. He was timed at 5.53 seconds. That’s slower than the average speed (5.36 seconds) of an offensive lineman in the last five combines.
But that’s still quicker than Eisen, who posted his highest 40-time last year – 5.98 seconds – since he was first challenged by Terrell Owens in 2005 to do the sprint in Indianapolis.
