Georgia Tech got its first commitment for 2016.

Xavier Gantt, a running back from powerhouse Buford High School, committed to Georgia Tech on Wednesday, per JacketsOnline's Kelly Quinlan.

The 5-foot-10, 163-pound junior rushed for 699 yards and 10 touchdowns this past season, despite missing a couple of games due to injury. He also played defensive back, finishing with 12 tackles, one pass block and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

On special teams, Gantt returned eight kickoffs for 369 yards and two touchdowns.

He reported offers from Miami, Mississippi State, Ohio State and Wake Forest.
