Chris Fowler, the host of ESPN’s “College GameDay,” won’t return for a 25th season.

Chris Fowler, who recently signed an extension to remain at ESPN through 2023, won’t return to the show that defined his career at the sports network.

Fowler is being replaced by Rece Davis as the host of “College GameDay,” the network announced.

Fowler has held his position as GameDay host since 1990. The trio of Fowler and analysts Lee Corso, the only original cast member of the show after its 1987 debut, and Kirk Herbstreit have done the show together since 1996. Corso will turn 80 this year. Fowler, who replaced Brent Musburger on Saturday Night Football in 2014, will no have an expanded role in ESPN’s tennis coverage.

“There is a strong legacy of top college football voices on ABC, from Chris Schenkel to Keith Jackson to Brent Musburger. I’m looking forward to returning to the booth and being a part of that incredible tradition,” Fowler said at the time his extension was announced less than a year ago.

Davis is no schlub. Davis, who has been with ESPN since 1995, hosted the network’s College Football Playoff rankings show last season.
