News of the week: The Owls landed a commitment from E.J. Hurley, an offensive lineman from Sandy Creek, per KSUOwlHowl.com. Hurley is a 6-foot-3, 345-pounder and also claimed offers from Furman, South Carolina State and Jacksonville State. Hurley was one of eight prospects making official visits last weekend, and at least half had already committed to the Owls.
What to feel good about: The Owls have only two scholarships available, and can be choosy on how to use them. "We feel like we're in good shape," coach Brian Bohannon said. "We're trying to solidify at cornerback, and we're trying to add depth at linebacker. Or we might possibly just take the best player available. We'll have to see how everything goes."
What to worry about: There will always be the fear that recruiting is going too good and bigger schools might try to poach prospects at the last minute.
Quote of the week: "We feel good about our momentum with recruiting. We've got a great group of kids. It's a small class, from a high school standpoint. That's a little different than last year. We feel good about the overall class. I think there's a lot of good energy going on here now, especially with us playing for the first time later this fall." — Bohannon
