Kelly Hall, a former Georgia cheerleader, posted a photo on Instagram showing Stafford playing with a ripped sock in the game that was marred by his Lions' teammate Ndamukong Suh stepping on the leg of Packers star QB Aaron Rodgers. Suh was later suspended by the NFL for the incident, likely prompting the passionate post by Hall. Suh's suspension was overturned Tuesday but he was still fined $70,000 by the league.
Hall said on Instagram, "Pretty sure Matthew's leg looks a lot damn worse right now from when he got stepped on/cleated in the same game. But it wasn't Suh. .. And he's not Aaron Rodgers, so no one would think twice about it."
NFL officiating executive Mike Pereira felt the same way. "I firmly believe that if it wasn't Suh and it was another no-name who didn't have history and it wasn't Aaron Rodgers, it wouldn't have led to any type of a fine at all," Pereira said.
One NFL player was surprised to see Suh’s suspension overturned, however.
“I didn’t understand that,” Jeremy Mincey of Dallas said. “You’ve got to play the game the right way. I’m not knocking him. I like his intensity. I love how hard he plays. But there comes a point where you’ve got to think before you react.”
