College football will resume with big games in Atlanta and Athens on Saturday. Must be fall, right?

Well, for the second straight day, the temperature will feel more like summer, even though fall officially arrived Friday.

“It’s going to feel more like midsummer this afternoon,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

The temperature hit 89 in Atlanta on Friday for the fourth straight day, and it should get close again. Saturday’s high is forecast at 88.

The average high for this date is 80, and sure enough, the temperature in Atlanta went well beyond that — to 86 shortly after 5 p.m.

Rain? Not much chance, and Monahan said showers should be limited to the North Georgia mountain area.

“For most of us,” he said, “it’s going to be dry this weekend, and it’s going to be dry over the next several days.”

Warm temperatures ahead for your Saturday afternoon
