Enjoy the sunshine during the day Saturday, because the weather in metro Atlanta and North Georgia could get ugly in the evening.

“We’re going to see a lot of showers and storms later today,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

The incoming storms could also bring wind gusts and lightning, Monahan said.

But the weekend won’t be a total washout. Drier air moving in after the storms will bring nicer weather, and the chance of rain Sunday will drop to 20 percent.

Saturday’s high is expected to hit 80, and it could reach 90 on Sunday.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., temps were 77 in Atlanta, 91 in Griffin and 70 in Blairsville.
