The temperature has risen into the mid 80s in North Georgia and there isn’t a drop of rain in sight for metro Atlanta, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
However, that should change later this afternoon.
The clouds should part as the day goes on, leading to only a few isolated thunderstorms, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
“It's going to be a dry day for a lot of us this afternoon,” Monahan said. “Drier air is coming in today, which will limit our storm probability for the day.”
It should especially be dry on the west side of I-85, Channel 2 Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said. Today’s 30 percent chance of rain is expected to mostly concentrate towards east Georgia.
A Bermuda high entered the region overnight, bringing in drier air and lowering North Georgia’s rain chances for the next week, Burns said. Through Wednesday, the chance of rain doesn’t top 30 percent.
The lower rain chances will also allow the temperature to increase back into the low 90s. Saturday’s high is still expected to be stuck in the upper 80s, reaching a predicted high of 89 degrees.
That is good news for Braves fans who are planning to attend the home games against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday and Sunday. First pitch Saturday at SunTrust Park will be at 7:10 p.m.
Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello also finish up their two-night concert tour at Mercedes-Benz Stadium at 7 p.m. Saturday. The gates open at 5 p.m., so downtown traffic might pick up around then.

Speaking of traffic, Cobb County’s main interstates will be under construction as usual. The I-75/I-285 resurfacing project the Georgia Department of Transportation has been working on will continue this weekend with multi-lane closures along both interstates in both directions.
I-75 South between the South Loop and Windy Hill Road has three lanes blocked for road work, which is causing pretty heavy delays, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
Two I-285 lanes near Northlake Parkway in DeKalb County are also closed for construction, which is also causing delays, the Traffic Center reported.
