For 10 days in a row, Atlanta has hit the mid-90s. Saturday is expected to make that an 11-day streak.

Temperatures started a degree or two above seasonal norms, but the average high for this time of year is 88 degrees. Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said North Georgia temperatures will shoot well past that today.

“It’ll be a nice, comfortable start to what will turn out to be another sunny and hot day,” he said. “By 4 p.m., we’ll be right back up in the mid-90s.”

There is no rain forecast for Saturday, but because the humidity is low, it shouldn’t feel quite as hot as the last few days, Channel 2 meteorologist Eboni Deon said.

“We are not tracking any rain today,” she said. “We are going to keep it quiet and dry.”

Though the lower humidity should make it feel cooler, the thermometer is still expected to hit 96 degrees Saturday afternoon. Deon is encouraging folks to bring plenty of water if they have outdoor plans.

“You will still need to find ways to keep cool and take plenty of breaks if you’re going to be out and about,” she said. “And get out there as early as possible before the sun really gets those temperatures up.”

If you’re a Braves fan planning on attending a game this weekend, no rain is always a good thing. The Braves host the Los Angeles Dodgers at 7:20 p.m. Saturday and 1:20 p.m. Sunday at SunTrust Park. Cobb County drivers should expect delays in the Cumberland ahead of the first pitch for both games.

Construction crews also won’t have any rain hindering their work this weekend, so the Georgia Department of Transportation will have them out in full force.

Two right lanes of I-20 West will be blocked at the Downtown Connector from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., GDOT said. From 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., a left westbound lane of the interstate will also be blocked at Thornton Road.

In Buckhead, a right lane of Roswell Road will be blocked in both directions at Piedmont Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. And in Sandy Springs, a right lane of Mt. Vernon Road will be blocked in both directions at Ga. 400 until this afternoon.

Sunday should break the mid-90s streak for Atlanta, since the projected high is just 92 degrees, Nitz said. A 20% chance of rain also returns to North Georgia, but it likely won’t rain again until mid-week.
