Hot temperatures are cooling off as the sun sets and the rain is moving on for the most part, meteorologists say.

Metro Atlanta is currently at 87 degrees.

Some showers hit the metro area earlier, but the rain didn’t do much to the heat index.

“If you have to be outside, of course drink plenty of water,” Nitz said. “Get in the shade.”

Weather won’t be a problem for your Friday morning commute, Channel 2 Action News Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

By 9 a.m. the temperature is expected to be 79 degrees on its way to a high of 92.

The afternoon will bring a 30 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms, which will increase over the weekend.
