ORIGINAL STORY: Metro Atlanta roads are dry, but a few wrecks are causing problems in Cobb and DeKalb counties.
A vehicle struck a pole at the intersection of Windy Hill Road and South Cobb Drive, causing all four traffic lights to collapse, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. All lanes at the intersection are shut down, so it's best to avoid the area.

A crash on I-75 South at South Marietta Parkway in Cobb has been cleared, but heavy delays remain, the Traffic Center reported.

A tractor-trailer crash on I-285 on the Outer Loop near I-20 is also causing heavy delays, the Traffic Center reported.

The Morrow Fire Department is working on a garbage truck fire on the I-75 bridge on U.S. 41, the department said. Mt. Zion Road is recommended as an alternative.
In downtown Atlanta, a northbound right lane is blocked on Peachtree Street at Pharr Road for construction crews.
And on Spring Street, two left lanes are blocked between Peachtree Street and 17th Street for construction until Monday. The Georgia Department of Transportation expects the closures to effect the evening commute, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Traffic Center reporter Mark McKay suggests drivers skip the detour and take Peachtree Street, Northside Drive or the Downtown Connector as more direct alternate routes.
Expert observation from @mckayWSB in Skycopter: detour off closed Spring St. to 18th sends #ATLtraffic up one-way W. P'tree, which then has to cross several lanes to turn right and go south of P'tree. That stinks! Don't take the detour!! Use P'tree or Northside or I-75/85/sb.

While scattered storms are expected to develop this afternoon, Channel 2 meteorologist Bran Nitz said it’s “not a rainout.”

A few isolated storms are developing now in North Georgia, but more widespread showers could pop up later due to rising temperatures and that ever-present tropical moisture in the air, according to Channel 2.
Temperatures are expected to top out in the high 80s later Friday. But it will feel more like the mid-90s, Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.
Showers won’t be everywhere Friday, but they will be out there, especially in far North Georgia and on the Southside, Minton said.
The weekend will see more of the same.
“This trend of afternoon showers and storms will happen every day,” she said. “Not everywhere. It’s certainly not going to be a washout, but you are going to have to deal with some of them here and there through today, tomorrow. A little less on Sunday, but it will start ramping up again early next week.”
Between Friday and Monday, some areas of metro Atlanta could see as much as 2 to 3 inches of rain.

Rain could also affect the Braves’ game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at SunTrust Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
