Monday’s near 70-degree weather, which made last week’s freezing temps and sweeping wind gusts feel like things of the past, will last another day.

But Tuesday may bring some stray showers. And a pending cold front could produce heavy rain, wind gusts upward of 50 mph and lower temperatures later in the week, according to Channel 2 Action News.

“Your five-day forecast shows that rain chance early in the day [Tuesday] at 30 percent, climbing to 60 percent late,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

There was a slight risk for severe storms Tuesday, mainly in northwest Georgia, and a 60 percent chance of rain early Wednesday in metro Atlanta, he said.

Temperatures were 68 degrees in Atlanta, 61 degrees in Blairsville and 67 degrees in Griffin just before 2 p.m.

They will run about 10 degrees above average through Tuesday, meteorologist Karen Minton said.

Then, temps will start to drop Wednesday, with lows in the 30s and 40s later this week and highs in the 50s.
