UberEats is stepping up its game in Austin's competitive food delivery industry.
UberEats -- the food delivery arm of the Uber ride-hailing service -- says it will now offer a standalone mobile app and that it is expanding its Austin delivery area, hours and array of restaurant options.
It's the first time Uber has offered a separate app outside of its original service to request rides.
UberEats will now offer delivery to an Austin area that is six times larger than its original territory, which included downtown Austin and parts of south, central and East Austin. Most of its service area was previously within the boundaries of MoPac Boulevard, Interstate 35, West Oltorf Street and East 38th Street.
Now, UberEats will deliver to addresses within the boundaries of U.S. 183 to the north and east, Capital of Texas Highway to the west and Texas 71 to the south.
It will also offer deliveries from 8 a.m. to midnight, instead of its current lunchtime offerings of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays.
UberEats will now deliver from nearly 100 Austin restaurants. That’s up from a selection of four or five a day.
The new list of participating restaurants includes Chi’Lantro BBQ, Noble Sandwich Co., Freedmen’s Bar, Hillside Farmacy, Jacoby’s Restaurant & Mercantile and Unit D Pizzeria.

The existing UberEats service, which offers five to six dishes from local restaurants from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will now be available as an “Instant Delivery” option in the UberEats app.
In addition to Austin, the new app will be available in Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Washington D.C., Seattle, Atlanta and Toronto, the company said.
