It’s been about a week since Apple released its latest hardware, which means it’s time for the rumor mill to start up again. This time, it’s cranked out a couple photos of a refreshed iPad mini.
The images, which first appeared on a Chinese news site, show an iPad mini sporting the same Touch ID home button and champagne gold color scheme of the iPhone 5s. (Via Zol.com.cn)
A writer for MacRumors isn't convinced, though. He writes, "This device appears to be fully assembled, which is a far more advanced state than has been seen before, as until now only various part leaks have surfaced."
But rumors about the gold iPad mini follow recent leaks of space-gray iPad mini parts, shown here on CNET and first released by Apple leaker Sonny Dickson.
Dickson has built himself a reliable track record tweeting images of Apple’s next big devices ahead of time.

Assuming the images and specs are legitimate, there’s a good chance Apple has another hit on its hands.
Apple's golden iPhone 5s was in short supply to begin with and is now sold out until at least next month, according to Apple's website.
It's not clear if this was due to Apple underestimating its popularity or if the company is maintaining artificial scarcity. (Via Apple)
Either way, the gold iPhones are commanding steep prices on the gray market. One even sold for more than $10,000 on eBay last week. (Via eBay)
We’ll have to wait and see whether Apple will give the iPad mini the golden touch. The company hasn’t commented, but it’s expected to hold an event announcing the next generation of iPad minis within the next month.
