Bloomberg reports that 10 mayors of cities including New York and Paris are working on a unified rulebook for sharing economy companies such as Uber and Airbnb, rather than struggling with those companies individually, as, say Austin and Chicago have recently. There could be a draft of the rulebook completed by as early as October.
As it bleeds influential users to services like Snapchat, Twitter-owned Vine is going past its six-second video limit and experimenting with offering a much longer video option, much like Instagram did back in March.
The Facebook-owned photo and video service now boasts 500 million users, 300 million of them daily active users, the company said in its blog this morning.
China's Tencent Holdings Ltd. and partners are paying $8.6 billion to buy a large stake in Supercell Oy, the game maker behind "Clash of Clans." Tencent is buying the stake from Japanese telecom company SoftBank Group Corp.
Despite yesterday's news that Apple won't support the upcoming Republican National Convention, that doesn't mean it's eschewing all Republican politics. The company's CEO Tim Cook plans to host a fundraiser for House Speaker Paul Ryan, reports Politico.
