The latest mobile operating system for Apple launched for users Tuesday but complaints have surfaced, saying that it causes iPhones to crash.
The Verge reported that some users said the update causes bricking, which is a term used to described when a phone will not turn on or function, when it becomes as useful as a brick.

The issue of users reporting problems with their phones after installing the latest iOS as soon as it is available is not new.
When iOS 9 launched, users claimed that their devices were crashing and locking up. Bugs were reported for iOS 8 as well.
BuzzFeed News reported that Apple issued a statement about the complaints, saying it was a "brief issue ... affecting a small number of users during the first hour of availability."
The statement goes on to say, "The problem was quickly resolved and we apologize to those customers. Anyone who was affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for help."
Before updating any software, Apple typically recommends users back up their phone data.
