About Duke: The Blue Devils (21-3-1) are in the semifinals for the first time since 1992 after handling Long Beach State 2-0 on Friday night, with both goals in the second half. It will be their second NCAA semifinals appearance in soccer. They will play Wake Forest, a team they split with during the season. Duke eliminated Georgia in Round 2. Local tie: Tri-captain Molly Lester of Lovett, a reserve player.
About FSU: The Seminoles (18-6-1) return to the national semifinals for the first time since 2007 and the fifth time in school history. FSU lost in the regular season to Portland, Wake Forest, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland, but has beaten Virginia twice in the postseason, first in the ACC tournament and then 3-0 in the NCAA quarterfinals Friday. FSU has allowed one goal in four NCAA games. Local tie: Katya Gokhman of Milton, a senior reserve player.
About Stanford: The Cardinal (23-0-1 and the overall top seed) are in the semifinals for the fourth consecutive year after a 2-1 overtime victory against Oklahoma State on Friday night, winning on a golden goal by Lindsay Taylor 2:40 into the extra period. Stanford's four seniors were 53-0-1 at home in their careers. Local tie: None.
About Wake Forest: The Demon Deacons (18-3-4) are in their first semifinals in women's soccer after a 3-0 victory against Central Florida on Friday night. Aubrey Bledsoe has 14 shutouts in goal for Wake Forest this season. Local tie: Kristen Meier of Marist, who is third in team points.
Times: The semifinals will be FSU vs. Stanford and Wake Forest vs. Duke. The games are scheduled for 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, with the order to be determined. The championship will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 4.
