It was an agonizing finish, but a psychiatrist from New York City won the women's division of the BMW Dallas Marathon after stumbling a few times and getting some help before breaking the tape, WFAA reported.
Chandler Self, a Texas A&M graduate, won the women’s title in an unofficial time of 2:53:58. She was leading the women’s marathon field by several minutes when her legs gave out, WFAA reported.
Self fell down several times and was helped to the finish line by Ariana Luterman, a high school student. Self staggered and fell and she grabbed the tape at the finish line.
Self was treated after finishing the race.
Keith Pierce, the winner in the men's division, ran the race with an unofficial time of 2:27:17.
