Atlanta’s Jack McInerney scored for Portland on Wednesday to help the Timbers defeat CD Dragon 2-1 in CONCACAF Champions League action.

It was an easy goal for McInerney, who was left unmarked and simply tapped in a cross from Diego Valeri at the back post in the 21st minute.

It was McInerney’s fourth goal in CCL action in his career.

It will be interesting to see if Portland makes McInerney available should there be an allocation draft for expansion teams Atlanta United and Minnesota, which will begin play in 2017.

McInerney has played in 17 goals for the Timbers this season, but started just five. He has scored five goals in the regular season, bringing his career total to 43 in 160 games played.
