Nearly five months after suffering a severe spinal injury during a game, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier made a public appearance at the 2018 NFL Draft Thursday night.

Shazier, 25, walked on stage holding hands with his fiancée Michelle Rodriguez and announced the Steelers first round Draft pick.

After announcing the Steelers drafted Virginia Tech safety Terrell Edmunds with the 28th overall selection, Shazier tweeted a picture of himself and his fiancée on the side of the NFL Draft stage.

"I'm truly blessed and humbled from all the prayers, love, and support that I have received," Shazier wrote along with the photo. "This is what keeps me going. Just continue to #Shalieve... Love you all thank you. God IS SO GREAT!!!"

Shazier suffered a spinal contusion on Dec. 4 during the Steelers’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was stabilized, carted off the field and underwent spinal stabilization surgery a few days later.
